Five Minute Friday: Gift

What was the best gift you ever received?

A gift isn't just something you pay for just because it's somebody's birthday or Christmas. "Oh, geeze, it's Christmas time again...time to buy all the gifts..."

But think about it - why do you give someone a gift? To show them you love them.

Now some of you are probably thinking, "Eww, I don't love my best friend." But do you wish well for your friend? Of course you do! Then that means you still want them to go to Heaven. This means that you love them.

Love isn't just a mushy, tingly, warm feeling. Love is everywhere - when you help your mom with supper, when you tell a bully to get away from a new kid at school...when God created you, he did it out of LOVE.

So next time you are buying gifts for Christmas, don't think, "Oh, sheesh! Now I have to waste all my money on buying these gifts!" Think, "It's time to show her/him that I love her/him. What would she/he like best?"

Why not give someone a gift today? A smile or even a kind word can be a gift in itself, especially to someone, who has been feeling down the last few days. They may be feeling really bad, but even you can't see it. When that is so, a smile can do a world of good.

Join Gypsy Mama and I with Five Minute Fridays every Friday - which I seem to miss a lot, but whatever. :P

  1. The most precious gift is one that hasn't been asked for or isn't expected. I like your post today!

  2. I totally agree with you, a gift is not something you buy because you have to. It is rather a manifestation of your willingness to offer and, in this sense, it can be just about anything -- a smile, a kind word, an hour of your time, anything!

Your comments make our day brighter! Please keep them pure and nice. :D
